We live in a visual world. The majority of the population understands and connects with visual information rather than text-heavy documents.  Almost gone are the days of researching through multiple websites to find the answers you are seeking (and thankfully, even longer gone are the days of researching through those dusty hardback things called books).  We can find simple answers to just about anything in an infographic; those statistical illustrations that have recently started popping up in your search results, and even in your Facebook feeds. Infographics have become a popular tool that marketers use to capture the attention of target audiences. They allow us to break down lengthy information into smaller portions of key concepts and make boring or hard to understand information more appealing to our audience, thus helping our audience understand our points much faster.

While it’s true that search engines can’t read images and won’t know what data your infographic contains, your target audience will. Resourceful infographics will be shared among others in your audience.  And since you are able to link your infographic image back to your website, you’ve now created a new link building campaign and you’re on your way to gaining higher rank within the search engines!
